Much of central and southern Alberta is under a winter storm warning Wednesday.
Although Calgary is covered by the warning, 660News Meteorologist David Spence says most of the snow will hit surrounding areas.
“The storm will arrive in the afternoon, at first producing some rain for us but that rain will quickly turn to snow,” he says. “It looks like in the Calgary area we can expect maybe 10 centimetres of snow at the most, barely enough to warrant the warning.”
“The heavier amounts of snow will happen west of the city in the foothills and north of the city right around the Red Deer area,” explains Spence.
He says closer to 20 centimetres of snow can be expected in that area.
