Mere weeks following the opening of the controversial Peace Bridge, city hall may be considering yet another pedestrian bridge!
The project was first planned in 1994 and would cross the Elbow River, connecting Fort Calgary and Inglewood.
It may sound familiar because there’s a bridge just steps away at 9th Avenue southeast, which allows cyclists and walkers to cross the river.
Despite appeals to the non-motorist community, the Calgary Sun reports kilometres travelled by vehicles was actually up by 4.7 per cent last year.
The bridge proposal will go before council on April 12.
