Cash may no longer be king

Canadians are already using plastic bills and will soon embrace a sans-penny coin system, but it signals the direction we could be going: no more hard currency.
According to The Globe and Mail, the research and development department of the Royal Canadian Mint released the “Mintchip” – a completely digital currency.
The innovative Mintchip could be best used for small purchases and would be like an anonymous Interac card.
Of course, the mint admits they’re not creating an alternate system anytime soon.
But our children, or their children, might be part of a new wave of digital money.
