CitiesMatter survey results released

Calgary’s mayor released the results of a survey with ten city related questions sent to the main five party leaders.
Naheed Nenshi and the city of Calgary led this initiative, that asked the leaders where they stand on issues from municipal funding to regional planning.
The mayor said while he could not claim one party as a clear winner, all brought up good ideas. He is encouraged to find the PC’s, Wildrose, Liberals, NDP and the Alberta Party all want to forge a new relationship with cities.
Nenshi says no party could guarantee predictable, stable funding and the only party who would pitch in financially for the southeast leg of the LRT is the Wildrose, and that is dependant on surplus dollars that come in.
When it comes to regional planning, Nenshi says none of the parties “get it” or seem to understand how important it is to sit down and plan developments.
