Parents split on peewee checking ban

Parents in Calgary appear to be split on the idea of banning body checking at the peewee level for hockey players under the age of 13.
Hockey Calgary is considering the move after a five-year study showed bodychecking could increase the risk of injury and concussions among young hockey players.
The organization held a meeting with about 50 parents Monday night according to The Calgary Herald.
Some say they like the move claiming their kids don’t play their best because they’re scared of getting hurt, while other parents are concerned it will put their kids at a competitive disadvantage.
A vote on the ban will be held June 23rd.
