Calgary schools under the microscope

A couple of private schools in Calgary will be under the provincial microscope in the near future, according to Education Minister Thomas Lukaszuk.
He made the remarks after discovering possible grade inflation at the International School of Excellence and Mountain View Academy.
Grade 12 students in both schools performed much poorer on provincially-assigned exams, compared to in-class marks given by teachers.
At the School of Excellence, the discrepancy was almost 40 percentage points, while Mountain View students averaged a score 27 points below their classroom grades.
Lukaszuk tells The Calgary Herald he wants to ensure students are earning their high school diplomas.
