Leaders’ last ditch battle for votes

Sunday marks the final full day of campaigning before we head to the polls in Alberta.
Strong support for the Wildrose in southern Alberta and Calgary has led to speculation the south will go to the Wildrose while the north and Edmonton would remain solidly PC.
Political scientists said this week they believed the battle will be won and lost in Calgary.
The city is where it’s at on the campaign trail today for the frontrunners, who are both spending the day here.
By far the busiest schedule belongs to PC leader Alison Redford, with nine stops on her agenda.
She kicked things off at a couple of west-side coffee shops.
Redford’s events primarily involve whistle stops with her candidates in virtually all sectors of the city including the Garrison Woods Safeway.
Yesterday, reportedly due to a mix-up Redford and PC candidate Ric McIver were asked to leave a southeast Sobeys. The Calgary Sun reports, a manager didn’t know they were supposed to be there.
Wildrose leader Danielle Smith is in Calgary as well, but with just two events on her last day of campaigning. She’s visiting the Dashmesh Culture Centre in Martindale, in the city’s northeast, followed by a meeting with a couple of candidates in the northwest.
Liberal leader Raj Sherman and NDP Leader Brian Mason spend their last full day of the campaign in Edmonton.
Today, Mason has a news conference scheduled to talk about fighting private health care.
