RBC has some advice for young Canadians following a poll showing what people between the ages 18 and 34 are most concerned about financially.
Owning a home, paying down debt, and growing a rainy-day fund are the top priorities.
An RBC spokesperson offers some tips; he says live below your means by saving up to 10 per cent of your income, use emergency funds strictly for emergency situations, put together a debt-repayment strategy and ensure you never miss a payment.
Also, rethink spending by looking at where money can be saved. For instance, take a lunch to work instead of spending $10 a day.
