Elder Abuse Response Team focuses on coordinated approach

A number of local organizations hope to further clamp down on elder abuse in our city.
The Elder Abuse Response Team is made up of Calgary Family Services, the Kerby Centre and city police.
Inspector Cliff O’Brien says they take every report of abuse very seriously and the sooner they are made aware, the better.
“When we get that information early, we are able to have the team go out,” he says. “We can do some early intervention and perhaps prevent something more serious from happening.”
In 2011, the Elder Abuse Resource line responded to an average of 98 calls very month.
