One hundred students from Arrowwood Community School east of Okotoks have resumed classes in the community centre after their school was allegedly torched by a former student.
RCMP say they were called at 11:30 p.m. Friday to the school in the small town for reports of a fire.
Crews were then called to a fire at a playground, and then to three other fires police say appear to be set on purpose.
RCMP have charged Thereon Majoras, 20, of the Siksika Nation with arson and mischief, who, according to The Calgary Herald, is a former student at the school.
To help in the school’s recovery efforts, money donations can be made out to Palliser Regional Schools and addressed to: #101, 3305 18th Ave. N., Lethbridge, AB T1H 5S1.
Donors are asked to write “School Fire” in the memo line on the cheque.
