Stampede bronze sculpture nears completion

Sure to be a popular tourist attraction in Calgary, a nearly five-metre-tall bronze sculpture is almost ready.

“The Banks of the Bow” will cover over 1,200 square-feet consisting of 15 horses, and two cowboys crossing the Bow River.

The work of art will be placed on the Stampede Grounds in front of the Agriculture Building.

The total cost of the piece, crafted in Kalispell, Montana, is $2-million and funded by an anonymous donor.

The exhibit should be set up sometime in June, well ahead of the 100th celebration of the Calgary Stampede going July 6th to 15th.
