Despite a lack lustre start to 2012, optimism in Canada’s good and beverage industry is on the rise.
A new survey has found 40 per cent of restaurant owners expect sales will pick up over the next six months and 25 per cent also plan to hire.
The President and CEO of the Canadian Restaurant and Food Association says it’s the first time in a long time a big chunk of his members are voting optimism.
“Despite these roadblocks, the restaurant industry continues to play a critical role in job creation, particularly at this time of year when students are looking for summer jobs,” said Whyte. “This survey has good news for Canadians – restaurants will be hiring more people, creating economic and social benefits in communities across the country.”
He says Alberta restaurateurs are even more optimistic about the future, eagerly looking forward to the business prospects of this year’s Calgary Stampede.
