Alberta getting a much-needed blast of moisture

Farmers are rejoicing over the steady rainfall most of Alberta’s been receiving, after a mild winter that left little moisture in the ground.

Soil moisture technologist Joe Michelson says moisture levels have been improving in the past month.

“The surface moisture in most of the province is good to very good, but there’s still some need for precipitation to get the sub-surface moisture up,” he says.

He says the exception is the extreme south of the province, where it’s been relatively wetter than the rest of Alberta.
