Ogden garbage fire forces evacuation

A fire in southeast Calgary that’s been smoldering for a week has once again forced the closure of Ogden Road between Bonnybrook Road and 34th Avenue.

Crews are also evacuating area buildings.

The evacuation and closure is due to a concern over air quality as the smoke continues to rise from the garbage pile, ambulances are also on stand by just in case.

The fire department says it’s a precautionary move as the wind picks up the particulates.

The stretch will likely remain closed through the drive home Tuesday.
