Calgary Transit is testing its electronic smart card system this week.
The plan is to have the cards in place of cash, passes or tickets.
With the new system transit users tap the card against an electronic reader as they board a train or bus.
The Calgary Herald reports 100 city staff and 400 University of Calgary students are testing them this week.
Calgary Transit doesn’t have an exact date when the system will be implemented, but it’s expected some time this summer.
