Avalanche concerns remain with spring here

Calgarians are reminded to be careful in the back country.

Parks Canada says avalanche season is officially over, but the risk of snow slides remains.

There were ten avalanche-related deaths recorded in the Canadian Rockies this past season according to the Calgary Herald, which is down from the long-term average of 14.

However, officials say unseasonably warm temperatures have weakened the snowpack and spring rainfall increases the risk of snow slides.

Parks Canada stopped posting daily avalanche bulletins on April 30th.
