Mulcair criticizes oilsands, pushes for sustainability

The newly minted leader of the federal NDP is taking a shot at the oilsands.
Thomas Mulcair said other parts of the country are paying the price for prosperity in resource sectors such as the Alberta oilsands.
He went on to say the Canadian dollar is being held artificially high which hurts domestic manufacturing.
Mulcair said Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick are some of the provinces hurt by the high loonie.
The federal NDP leader has said there is a need for the polluter to pay.
Speaking on CBC’s the House, he stressed that he is not against oilsands development, but it has to be sustainable.
The Herald reports on the same show, Alberta Environment Minister Diana McQueen said its old-style politics, pitting one part of the country against the other.
McQueen extended an invitation for the federal leader to come out and meet with the Alberta government.
