Previous complaints about day home

The parents of another little girl say they raised questions last year about a southeast Calgary day home where a toddler was found unconscious and not breathing on Wednesday.

The 21-month-old girl was taken off life support Friday night.

Nicole Sawchuk and Darren Tanguay tell the Calgary Herald, they took their little girl out of the same day home last year.

They say she cried all the time, suffered numerous injuries and when they took her to hospital, doctors said her arm had been broken twice.

While they couldn’t prove any ill intentions at the day home, they removed their child immediately.

They say Family Services and the police were both called to investigate.

Police officials say they can not comment on, or confirm, any previous police involvement at the same home while this investigation is ongoing.

Homicide has taken over the case.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday.

The name of the 21-month-old girl has not been released.
