With the charity hockey marathon still going strong east of the city in Chestermere, the players have a new request: bigger skates.
The players’ feet are swelling going into day four of the 10-day hockey game, and they’re asking anyone with extra skates to donate them.
The 40 players forgot about their aches and pains for a few minutes when NHL Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald showed up for a pep talk.
The goal is to raise $1.5-million for pediatric cancer research and equipment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
So far, roughly $680-thousand has been raised.
