Looking for a summer camp for your child?

It is the time of the year when parents contemplate the question: “What am I going to do with my youngster this summer?”
At Telus Spark, the science center is offering a number of summer camps for children between the ages of 5 and 14.
Camp coordinator Nesmah Elkestawi tells 660News they have one camp for budding journalists.
(It’s) “called the Spark Writer,” says Elkestawi who adds the camp is designed for older children. “You’re going to be writing your own blog. You’re going to be blogging all about the different camps that are happening in Telus Spark. And we’re working on maybe getting them off site. Go maybe see what the Calgary Herald looks like or what 660News looks like.”
If being a reporter doesn’t appeal to your child, perhaps re-enacting the movie The Bridge On The River Kwai is more appealing through a program called, Engineer It!
“With that camp,” (the campers) “will take a look at different ways of building a bridge,” says Elkestawi. “What kind of bridge would be the best bridge? Starting at from being a model bridge to actually building a real bridge and walking across it.”
“For the short week of August I thought I’d change it up a bit,” Elkestawi continues. “I’ve got something called Science Explorers. We’ll have little campers turning into scientists. They’ll take a look at different fields of science throughout the week.”
