Calgary Capital Budget Review

City Council is doing an in depth review of its 2013 and 2014 capital budgets.

Currently on the books for the next two years is $630 million in capital projects for our city with council now going through each item department by department and line by line.

Alderman Gord Lowe says the list of needs is rather lengthy.

“Always transit and always roads then all the bits and pieces that make the city run….We want to make sure it’s in fact the right things to spend the money on,” explains Lowe.

The alderman also says Calgary is looking at another period of growth again and with that will be a new set of challenges to pay for the needed infrastructure demands.
