The plan to replace Shawnee Slopes golf course with new houses and condos heads to the Calgary Planning Commission next week.
Meanwhile, community’s leaders are presenting their own concept for its redevelopment to city hall.
According to The Calgary Herald, the Shawnee-Evergreen Community Association spent $55,000 on consultants to come up with an alternative vision for the southwest golf course site.
It would include a huge public park and sports fields and 135 houses, along with townhouses and condos.
That’s instead of about 700 single-family houses and a smaller park as Geo-Energy Enterprise is proposing.
City planners will host an open house Thursday night at St. Mary’s University College to show Geo-Energy’s plan.
