Strong wind creates hazard downtown

Wind is once again causing problems downtown.
Fire crews closed 5th Avenue SW between 6th and 7th Streets where several windows broke after cords and ropes attached to an apartment whipped in the wind.
Battalion Chief Don Huska tells 660News crews were called to the 700 block of 5th Ave. SW just after 6pm to find three floors of windows broken.
“Crew’s secured the scene and are currently working with the building management company and glass company to secure and make the area safe,” Huska says.
He adds the wind is too strong for crews to safety remove the ropes and cords and will remain on scene until they can.
No injuries have been reported and the closures may last until Thursday morning.
