A Calgary author is gold

A Calgary writer is celebrating a gold medal for her fiction.

Jeane Watier won the 2012 Independent Publisher Book Award for visionary fiction.

The relatively new genre is defined as fiction in which the expansion of the human mind drives the plot.

Watier said “A Brief Moment in Time” is a page turner.

She describes it “as an elusive romance, that has shifting realities and paranormal twists that is set in a prison, the main character is a man serving time for murder and a psychologist with a ground breaking rehabilitation program.”

Watier added the underlying message of the book is, “that we create a prison in our mind and that is where the limitation lies and that is where the freedom can be found.”

The author lives in Calgary with her family and is having a book signing at Angel’s Cappuccino and Ice Cream in Edworthy Park on Sunday, May 29th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The 16th Annual “IPPY” awards will be handed out in New York on June 4th.
