Calgarians take “staycations” over long weekend

If you thought you we’re the only person staying home for Victoria Day weekend, think again!
According to a recent BMO survey, 57 per cent of Canadians planned to take a “staycation” last year to cut back on discretionary spending.
While many Calgarians head out of town to their cottage or to camp, others are opting to stay in the city for a more budget friendly holiday.
Joanne says she always stays home for May long because prices tend to spike.
“Everything, any activity goes up in price. Gas, motels, everything comes up to the peak prices,” she adds.
The survey recommends establishing a budget as the simplest way to keep costs to a minimum over the weekend.
