Four people suffered serious injuries, with one being airlifted to a Calgary hospital following a highway crash south of the city.

The collision happened shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, on Highway 541 of Longview.

Mounties say it appears a westbound vehicle was travelling in the eastbound lanes when it crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

Police say speed and alcohol may be factors in the crash.
