A man has been charged following the fatal hit and run earlier this month that killed a ten year old girl.
May third, the car Eleasha Wesley was in was hit from behind by a van while on highway one near Valley Ridge. The impact rolled the car, ejecting the girl from it. She hadn’t been wearing a seat belt.
Tuesday, 19-yea-old Fergus Matthew Hunter was spotted by RCMP in Cochrane and held on separate charges until Calgary police could get there and charge him with one count each of hit and run and dangerous operation of motorized vehicle causing death.
Hunter had been out on bail on similar offences and Sgt. Colin Foster says he has been a prime suspect almost from the beginning and officers have had a hard time finding him.
He adds while numerous anonymous tips have come into investigators, no one has been willing to go on record.
Both Hunter and Eleasha are from the same community of Morely.
Speed was a factor in this crash, but officers can not prove that alcohol was.
