The province’s transportation boss says Calgary’s new noise snare bylaw won’t do much to stop loud vehicles from bothering people.
Ric McIver tells The Calgary Sun he doesn’t think it’s going to make a big difference because taxpayers can’t afford to have a sound machine on every corner, but he says it may make 17th Ave. a quieter place.
McIver, an avid motorcyclist, adds if the city tries to kill the noise too much it may lose appeal to some visitors.
The noise bylaw goes into effect June 1st and drivers will be fined $200 if their vehicles exceed 96 decibels.
