Drumheller gears up for first-ever DinoFest

Calgary is known for Stampede and a party that lasts for a week and a half.
Taber is known for its corn and a festival called Cornfest.
So why not DinoFest in Drumheller?
The town east of Calgary is organizing its first-ever DinoFest this weekend, and festival spokesman Jim Barr says they have activities planned for all ages.
“On the Friday and Saturday night,” Barr tells 660News, “we’re putting a three storey screen, with a free screening of Jurassic Park on the Friday, and a free screening of Jurassic Park II on Saturday night, with the head of the world’s tallest dinosaur poking out over top of the movie screen.”
“Encana’s bringing down this big kid’s zone with a reverse bungie and a DinoFest bounce around castle,” Barr continues. “And then we’ve got nine bands that are playing DinoFest, on stage all weekend on the Saturday and Sunday.”
Needless to say, there will also be special programming over the weekend at The Royal Tyrrell Museum.
“They’ve got … fossil safaris going on,” says Barr. “They’ve got special presentations from paleontologists. There’s a bit dinosaur scavenger hunt that you can participate” (in). “And a walk on experience with a Nickelodeon television show called, Dinosaur Dan.”
Activities begin Friday evening at 7 at the Spray Park’s main stage and continue through to late Sunday afternoon.
