Grizzly relocation debate heats up

The discovery of a massive grizzly bear in the Chain Lakes area of southern Alberta has spurred the debate about relocating the already threatened species.
Last week, fish and wildlife officers moved the 250-kilogram, adult male bear to Grande Cache after getting complaints about calves being attacked.
However, a conservation specialist with the Alberta Wilderness Association tells The Calgary Herald relocating grizzlies isn’t addressing the root problem and that it’s stressful for the animals.
A spokesman with Sustainable Resource Development says the province has no choice if bears continue to go after livestock.
