All eyes will be on the Kings and Devils Wednesday night as the Stanley Cup Final gets underway in New Jersey.
L.A.’s Head Coach, Darryl Sutter, took the Calgary Flames all the way to game seven in the 2004 final, but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Now he’s out to prove he can do with the Kings what he couldn’t do with the Flames.
Sutter is just four wins away from hoisting a cup; a feat he’s never achieved in his career, either playing or coaching.
Sportsnet 960 The Fan’s Dean Molberg says in some respects, Sutter went into L.A. and pushed the team in the right direction.
“Some will argue that he was in the right place at the right time and is very fortunate to be the guy who was put behind that bench, but hey, he’s done it, he’s got them four wins away,” says Molberg. “They’ve been dominate on the road, they’ve been dominate regardless. I think he’s got a really good shot for sure.”
The Kings make their return to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1993 and remain perfect on the road, with an 8-and-0 record so far this post-season.
Game one goes Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. from New Jersey.
