Luxury home sales smashing records

Luxury homes are flying off the shelf in Calgary.

Seventy-four homes with a price-tag of at least $1-million have sold in May as of Wednesday, shattering the old record of 61 in March and July of 2007.

The Calgary Real Estate Board says four of the sales were condos, including a $9-million unit in “The River” project located near the Elbow River.

One realtor tells The Calgary Herald luxury homes are selling quickly because prices have dropped to more reasonable levels, alleviating pent-up demand from people waiting for a softer market.
