A southeast Calgary neighbourhood is celebrating its 40th anniversary, this weekend.
Current and past residents of Dover gathered, Saturday, at the Dover Community Association Centre to mark the 40th anniversary of the neighbourhood.
Alderman Gian-Carlo Carra notes Dover, like many east side communities, gets a bad rap for crime. But he tells the Calgary Herald, while many of its residents are senior citizens, the community is evolving. He says it is becoming an increasingly youthful and multi-cultural neighbourhood.
To celebrate the anniversary, school children were given disposable cameras to photograph their neighbourhood. The collection was then assembled by photographic artist Stacey Watson for display at the Community Association.
