It’s a night to honour former Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed as political heavyweights converge on the Fairmont Palliser Hotel to celebrate his contribution to the country during a tribute dinner Wednesday.
He’s been voted the best provincial premier in recent Canadian history, according to a survey by the Institute for Research on Public Policy.
He beat out former Ontario Premier William Davis.
Rounding out the top five are Saskatchewan’s Alan Blakeney, New Brunswick’s Frank McKenna and Quebec’s Robert Bourassa.
Current Premier Alison Redford will be the keynote speaker taking the stage at 6:15 p.m.
The tribute dinner comes as the institute for research on public policy celebrates its 40-year anniversary.
