T-storms spawn a tornado but no major damage

People in many parts of southern Alberta are cleaning up and mopping up following a series of intense thunderstorms.
Environment Canada confirms a tornado touchdown a few kilometres north of Taber, a town located south of Calgary.
The twister knocked down some power lines and trees and damaged a few farm buildings but there were no reports of any injuries.
In Calgary, the fire department responded to 150 calls over a six-hour period.
Fire Batt. Chief Al Magwood tells 660News, a number of homeowners thought their houses were hit by lightning but that wasn’t the case.
Fire and police crews were kept busy though helping drivers navigate a number of streets as water levels rose.
The Mounties are telling drivers to stay off Highway 1A between Highway 1X and Canmore because of debris on the road.
Several flights at Calgary International Airport Wednesday morning were also cancelled or delayed because the storm grounded planes. Travellers are being urged to check on the status of their flight before heading to the terminal.
The storm was not one for the record books 36.2 millimetres of rain fell, which is only half the amount that came down on the same day back in 2007.
Calgarians don’t have to worry about any severe weather for the next few days, however it looks like rain will return just in time for the weekend.
