Anti-drug program in Calgary

The city is looking into launching its own anti-drug use education program.
The Community and Protective Services Committee told council Wednesday it would be willing to pull $150-thousand from its reserve budget into the program, which still needs approval from city council.
Alderman John Mar pitched the idea last year and says it would specifically target ecstasy, but it can be adapted to include other street drugs as well.
A couple of aldermen disagree with funding the program, including Andre Chabot who tells The Calgary Sun drug use issues fall under the jurisdiction of Alberta Health Services, not the city.
