Proposed changes to taxi rules aren’t going over well with one cab company owner, who says he’s willing to go to court to oppose them.
The new rules would require cab owners to submit GPS data and other information from existing taxi meters to the city.
The goal is to make sure cabs are where they’re supposed to be while serving the public as efficiently as they can.
The owner of Associated Cab, Roger Richard, tells The Calgary Sun outfitting his fleet with the gadgets needed to comply could cost up to $1-million, while bureaucrats say it’ll be $480,000.
Council started deliberating on the bylaw changes Monday.
