Update coming on oil spill cleanup

Plains Midstream Canada will give an update on the cleanup of the oil spill affecting the Red Deer River and Gleniffer Lake later Tuesday.
The company said some 170 personnel were on site helping with the clean-up, and absorbent pads had been placed at the source of the leak to capture residual oil.
These kinds of detailed day-to-day updates contrast the way the company dealt with communications during the company’s last spill in northern Alberta about 14 months ago.
Former Premier Ed Stelmach questioned the company’s response after it took one week before any press release was issued.
