Homicide and forensic investigators with the Edmonton Police Service are in Langley, B.C., interviewing Travis Baumgartner.
The 21-year-old is accused of gunning down three G4S Cash Solution employees and critically wounding a fourth, while they were servicing ATMs on the University of Alberta campus Friday.
Baumgartner was arrested about 36 hours after the tragedy, while attempting to cross the Canada-U.S. border near Abbotsford, B.C.
Border agents say he was taken into custody without incident.
He is expected to be back in Edmonton later in the week to face charges including first degree murder and armed robbery.
A brother-in-law of one of the victims, 30-year-old Eddie Rejano, tells The Calgary Herald he hopes Baumgartner spends the rest of his life in jail.
A former G4S employee, Jayme Stephenson, trained with Baumgartner. She says they were taught to look after one another and watch each other’s backs, but with Travis it appears that was all a lie.
A check of social media sites shows Baumgartner had different personas; on a dating website, he described himself as a laid-back people person, a great guy who doesn’t come along very often.
However, on a June 1 Facebook post, he wrote, “I wonder if I’d make the 6 o’clock news if I just started popping (sic) people off.”
