Hotels cash in for Stampede

Some of the most staggering prices during this year’s Stampede celebrations will come during check-out at downtown hotel lobbies.
With less than three weeks until the centennial celebration gets underway, many downtown hotels are upping their rates by hundreds of dollars during the 10-day stretch.
The Calgary Hotel Association’s Jon Jackson tells The Calgary Sun it’s not surprising to see rates go through the roof, since demand is so high.
Visitors may have to spend as much as $600 a night for a room that would normally go for around $150.
It’s estimated a 500,000 out-of-towners will converge on Cowtown to take in the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.
