Alberta kids have difficulty starting kindergarten: report

Some troubling findings from a study of thousands of Alberta kindergarten kids.

According to preliminary results from a five-year project by the province, 27 per cent of kids entering kindergarten are having great difficulty in one of five areas of development.

The Calgary Herald reports Calgary is ahead of Edmonton, and also does a bit better than the province as a whole.

This is year three of five of the Early Child Mapping Initiative, which is expected to guide education policies in the future.
