An empty lot in the Beltline is getting a facelift.
The Victoria Park business revitalization zone recently obtained approval from the city for a park to be developed on a vacant 1 St. S.W. lot adjacent to Haultain Park.
Executive Director David Lowe tells 660News the idea behind the project is to take an inactive area and turn it into a link between two very high quality urban spaces.
“See our pathway here, we’ve got some nice deck areas for people to enjoy themselves, take a break from the park, watch people play soccer and again on 1 St., nice little deck space there for people to create a cafe environment,” says Lowe.
Lowe says the site will also include plants.
About 350 volunteers from the Molson Canadian Red Leaf Project are assisting in the construction of the park.
Director of sales for Molson/Coors Canada Andrew Storter says everyone who is helping out will receive a free ticket to the Sublime with Rome concert Tuesday night at the Cowboys Stampede Tent.
