Salvation Army celebrates 130 years

The Salvation Army is celebrating 130 years of service in Canada with an event at Heritage Park.

Captain Pam Goodyear says the Christian organization helps people in a number of ways.

“Here in Calgary we have a hospice; we have a seniors’ residence,” says Goodyear. “We’re just here to really celebrate the work of the Salvation Army. Imagine the impact on the number of lives of people over 130 years.”

The Salvation Army began its work in Canada in 1882, and is now the largest provider of social services in the country apart from the government.
