Alberta bar and restaurant receipts soar

Albertans love affair with food and drink is on the rise.

April bar and restaurant receipts topped $641-million in April, which means on average people spent an average of $166, which is 32 per cent higher than the Canadian Average.

ATB Financial Senior economist Todd Hirsch tells 660News, the figures can be viewed two ways.

First, Albertans have a lot of disposable income, second we’re too busy to cook and eat at home.

Hirsch says with Stampede around the corner and summer just heating up, he expects more food and beverage sale records will be established.
