Study shows Albertans need to be more active

A new government survey has found Albertans are not as active as they need to be.

Only 85% of people in this province reported being involved in some sort of sport or recreational endeavour in 2011-2012.

While the number might seem high, researchers say when a person is asked about an activity, more often than not, they over inflate their participation.

Canadians are being encouraged to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity a week.

The biggest reason why people say they don’t “break a sweat” is just not enough time.
