Alberta rule changes opening door to skilled foreign workers

Hundreds even thousands of skilled workers could be coming to Wildrose Country, thanks to some rule changes making it easier for foreign workers to get jobs in the oilsands.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says the Alberta-based pilot program will help address what he calls a “near-crisis” in a number of fields where there aren’t enough Canadian trades-people available.
The Calgary Herald reports foreign steamfitters and pipefitters will be able to move freely among Alberta employers instead of being tied to one boss during their work permit.
