Edmonton’s proposed downtown arena will be dramatically more expensive then city council first thought.
The latest estimates suggest the $450-million project could be worth $35-million more, unless changes are made to keep costs down.
To make their target, the city is offering a few ideas, like modifying the exterior of the building or using aluminium in place of zinc.
The project has garnered almost unceasing scrutiny since it was proposed, after the municipal government agreed to foot most of the bill, as the province remains unwilling to chip in.
