Joffrey Reynolds released pending deportation

Former CFL all star Joffrey Reynolds won’t have to live life behind bars, pending his removal from Canada.
The ex-Stampeder was charged with assault and break and enter over the weekend, and that’s when it came to light that he has been in Canada illegally after his work permit expired in February.
Wednesday morning at his detention review hearing, an Immigration Refugee Board member found the 32-year-old was a low flight risk and released him on a no cash bond.
Reynolds must still check in with Canada Border Services two times a month, stay away from the alleged victim in his assault case and tell the authorities where he’s living.
During the hearing, Reynolds insisted he was not a threat to society and didn’t plan on spending his life on the run from immigration. Quite the opposite in fact, he said his livelihood is in Calgary and it would be counter productive for him to leave.
The ex-Stampeder has fallen on some hard financial times, his home was foreclosed and car re-possessed, because of that he has to stay with friends.
Reynolds represented himself at the hearing and said he didn’t realize he had to extend his work permit to stay here legally.
