CEO of Calgary Public Library’s retires

The man at the head of Calgary’s Public Library’s is closing the book on his library career.

CEO Gerry Meek announced his retirement, effective September 1, 2012, which is 21 years after he joined the Calgary Public Library team.

“I have enjoyed the honour and special privilege of serving the citizens of Calgary as the Chief Executive Officer of the Calgary Public Library,” Meek said. “During the course of my tenure, new directions have been set, much has been initiated, much has been achieved, and many awards garnered. But I am most proud of the incredible staff at the Calgary Public Library who serve our community with passion, caring, and an unfailing commitment to service excellence.”

There will now be a national search for the person who will begin a new chapter as CEO.
