Three families homeless after N.E. fire

Three Calgary families got a real look Monday morning at the devastation of a two alarm fire in the northeast.
They spent the night out of their homes after flames ripped through their Coventry Hills homes.
When fire crews arrived just before 5 p.m. Sunday, a bi-level home and detached garage were engulfed in flames and the house to the south was gutted.
The home on the other side sustained significant damage as well; investigators are still trying to pinpoint what caused the inferno on Covewood Park.
A neighbour’s wife was one of the first people on scene Sunday; he tells 660News the couple were working in their backyard when they saw ash and embers fly over their own home.
Jason says his wife went to investigate and saw a man screaming in the front yard as he tried to save his cats.
He says the neighbourhood quickly filled with smoke and figures it took about 10 minutes before the house was fully involved.
Other neighbours say their homes are too close together.
Calgary fire and Arson investigators say they will return to the scene Monday afternoon to try and determine the cause.
